Mona graduated with her PhD in 2010 from the University of Sydney, Australia, in polymer chemistry. She then joined Prof. S. P. Armes (FRS) group in Sheffield University, England, as a postdoctoral fellow. In 2013 she moved to the European Institute of Membrane in Montpellier with the aim of employing her knowledge and expertise in the field of polymer synthesis and colloidal chemistry in membrane science. In 2015 she was appointed as a first class CNRS researcher (CR1). She was promoted to director of research (DR; equivalent to professor) in October 2023.
Her research focuses on the design and synthesis of novel materials and new fabrication strategies for functional membranes with improved/additional properties (atom and energy efficient, reactive, functional, bio based membranes, etc.).
Research keywords: polymer synthesis, controlled radical polymerization, polymer characterization, glyco-polymers, bio-sourced polymers, colloids, self-assembly (in bulk and in solution), thin film, organic and inorganic nanoparticles, hybrid material, COF, MOF and functional cyclic molecules.
