SUMMARY:Séminaire Professeur ADENIYI Amos - Jeudi 4 décembre à 11h
DESCRIPTION:\nSéminaire  du Professeur Amos ADENIYI\nSenior Lecturer\, C
heical  Engineering\, Cape Peninsula University of Technology\, Afrique d
 u Sud\n\nJeudi 4 décembre 2025 à 11h\n\n\n"Membrane Research at CPUT: Th
e Plan\, the Purpose\, and the Pursuit"\n\n\n\n\nThe Membranes and Advance
d Water Technology Research Unit (MAWT) at the Cape Peninsula University o
f Technology (CPUT) is emerging as a strategic hub for innovative membrane
science\, aligned with global water-security priorities and the Sustainab
le Development Goals. This presentation outlines CPUT’s membrane researc
 h agenda\, its plan\, its purpose\, and its pursuit of impactful\, applica
tion-driven solutions. Central to MAWT’s mission is the development of n
ext-generation membrane materials and processes that address pressing wate
r-treatment challenges in both urban and resource-limited environments.\n\
nCurrent flagship projects include:\n(1) the design and fabrication of thi
n-film composite nanofiltration hollow-fiber membranes targeting arsenic r
emoval from groundwater (AREHOFI)\,\n(2) the synthesis of highly selective
triblock terpolymer nanofiltration membranes for nitrate removal using RA
FT polymerization and layer-by-layer deposition techniques\,\n(3) the deve
lopment of low-cost geopolymer-based ceramic membranes tailored for decent
ralized water purification in rural communities.\n\nTogether\, these proje
cts reflect MAWT’s commitment to scientific excellence\, innovation\, sk
ills development\, and technology transfer\, leveraging interdisciplinary
collaboration and international partnerships\, including the European Inst
itute of Membrane\, University of Montpellier. This talk will highlight th
e scientific advances\, methodological approaches\, and envisioned societa
l impact of CPUT’s membrane research trajectory as it positions itself a
s a growing contributor to the global membrane community."\n\n
