The cluster Molecules, Colloids and Porous Materials (MCP) is specialized in the development of a variety of materials and membranes (dense or porous ceramics, hybrids and composites) with controlled composition, design, microstructure and functionality. The expertise of the staff members includes namely Solution & Sol-gel chemistry, Boron chemistry, Colloidal Chemistry, Self-organization & Templating, Solvothermal synthesis, Microwave-assisted methods, Sonochemistry, synthesis in Supercritical CO2, Catalysis, Surface Chemistry and Solid Chemistry . The exploration of innovative characterization methods, specifically adapted to in-situ analysis and operando membranes & thin films is another priority of the cluster. Target applications for the developed membranes and materials focus on both energy and environment-related applications such as water treatment, gas separation and treatment, and molecular hydrogen production/separation/storage/detection.
