Patrice Huguet est professeur des Universités à l’Université de Montpellier II depuis 2001 où il enseigne la Thermodynamique, la Chimie des solutions et la Spectroscopie moléculaire. Il a obtenu un doctorat en Chimie Théorique – Chimie Physique en 1992 à l’Université de Montpellier II sur le thème : Caractérisation d’une phase gazeuse en cours de réaction (CVD) par effet Raman spontané. Il a ensuite, comme Maître de Conférences, intégré le Laboratoire des Matériaux et Procédés Membranaires (LMPM) pour étudier le contenu, ionique ou non, des solutions se trouvant dans les matériaux membranaires utilisés pour la dialyse ou l’électrodialyse (nature, quantité, interactions, etc.). Depuis 2000, il fait partie de l’Institut Européen des Membranes (IEM) où il développe les techniques de spectroscopie moléculaire appliquées aux membranes échangeuses d’ions, dans le but de mieux comprendre les mécanismes de transport au sein du matériau. Ces dernières années, un accent particulier a été mis sur l’étude des mécanismes de transport de solvant dans les polyélectrolytes pour piles à combustible basse température ; il a développé des montages expérimentaux originaux permettant de mesurer les gradients d’eau dans une pile à combustible en fonctionnement par microscopie Raman confocale par exemple.
