Philippe Sistat est maitre de conférences à l’université de Montpellier II. Il est enseignant à la faculté des sciences. Il reçoit le titre de docteur en chimie à Montpellier en 1997. Durant sa thèse il contribue au développement des techniques électrochimiques transitoires pour l’étude des membranes ioniques.

Son domaine d’activité est concentré sur l’étude du transport d’ions dans les systèmes membranaires ainsi que les nouvelles applications électromembranaires. Depuis 2010, il est devenu responsable du département physico-chimie, polymères et interfaces (IP2) de l’IEM.
Il est co-auteurs de plus de 31 articles dans des revues à comité de lecture (cités plus de 300 fois).
