Sébastien Balme a obtenu son diplôme de doctorat en chimie physique à l’université Montpellier en 2005 sur l’étude des interactions protéines / surface par spectroscopie de fluorescence résolue dans le temps en mode confocal. Il a ensuite effectué un post-doctorat au département de chimie physique de l’université Genève sur l’adsorption et la dérivatisation de phytostérols sur fibre SPME pour l’analyse sélective par GC-MS. Depuis 2007, il occupe un poste de maitre de conférences en section 31.

Ses activités de recherche se concentrent sur :

  • La compréhension des relations structure/activité des phénomènes de confinement de molécules biologiques dans des matrices solides.
  • La conception et l’étude de propriétés de membrane bio-inspirées par confinement de canaux transmembranaire biologiques tels que des canaux ionique dans de matrices solides.
  • Etude de la translocation de macromolécule à l’échelle du nanopore unique

Les applications visées par ces activités sont : les membranes bio-inspirées à haute sélectivité, les biocapteurs, le séquençage d’ADN ou catalyse.
