The IP2 department’s areas of expertise are (i) the synthesis and characterization of biomimetic and bio-based materials, (ii) the nanostructuring of membrane interfaces and polymer materials, and (iii) the physico-chemical and electrochemical characterization of nanostructured interfaces, and electrocatalytic and membrane processes.
The scientific challenges of the projects developed in IP2 concern the environment (treatment of polluted water by advanced oxidation processes), health (microfiltration for the food industry), and energy (production of H2 by electrolysis, electrochemical production of NH3). The IP2 department has specific equipment for characterizing polymeric membrane materials (AFM, gel permeation chromatography, rheometer, flow potential, wettability measurement, filtration and electrodialysis pilot), spectroscopic equipment (Raman, IR and fluorescence) and electrochemical equipment (potentiostat/galvanostat, impedance analyzer, quartz crystal microbalance, electrolysis cell, etc.).
